Children’s Place

The relationship between the St. Clair District Attorney’s Office and The Children’s Place first began 30 years ago.  The DA’s office, the Department of Human Resources and the “Friends of Children” worked together investing time and resources to make the St. Clair Children’s Advocacy Center a reality.  In 1992, the CAC incorporated, appointed a Board of Directors, and was accepted as a member of the Alabama Network of Children’s Advocacy Centers.

The District Attorney’s Office is the legal arm of the services offered at The Children’s Place.  The DA’s office is represented during the interview process after a sexual abuse allegation is reported and is included, along with DHR and local law enforcement, in the step by step investigation and evidence gathering process.  Their office is responsible for prosecution of the case if found to be necessary.
